TRANSMISSION LINE ENGINEER(S)

Job Description:

Responsible for performing complex transmission and distribution engineering work with limited supervision. Performs project engineering and provides technical support to external customers. Plans, performs design and supports installation and commissioning of all components and equipment associated with electrical transmission and distribution facilities. Includes both electrical and physical aspects associated with overhead and underground lines and with substation installations. Develops and reviews engineering documents such as calculations, specifications and procedures.  Assists in permits such as DOT, state, county, zoning, easements and line franchise.  Prepares and reviews cost estimates and project proposals. Manages the total design package and the overall customer relationship experience as applied to engineering in both field and office settings. Work involves coordination with field personnel, writing specifications and contracts, checking drawings, coordination and interpretation of engineering data, calculations and design, scoping, estimating, and detailed design. Some fieldwork required.  

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor´s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related fields of Engineering, plus at least four years of experience in transmission line design. Title and salary will be based on experience and other qualifications. Experience in design and construction of overhead and underground transmission lines and a knowledge of equipment testing tools and methodologies.  

A demonstrated expertise in the use of technical applications/software/tools (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PLS Cadd, PLS Pole, Auto Cadd, Sag 10 and Caisson programs).  A comfortable working knowledge of PLS CADD is required.  Advanced computer skills such as programming or ability to use higher level design and/or data analysis programs.  Advanced knowledge of the NESC, NEC, and other related regulations.

Positions require registration as Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (or state where position is located) and the ability to get registered in other states as required. Must have good writing and communication. Must have demonstrated experience dealing with multiple projects and priorities. Must have good driving record and valid Texas (or applicable  state) driver's license. Customer focus and satisfaction are key behaviors necessary for success.
