Designs and operates Electro-mechanical test fixtures for complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and fluidic product sub-assemblies for reliability life testing by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Designs complex test fixtures for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and fluidic product sub-assemblies for reliability life testing.

Documents test fixture designs using SolidWorks CAD software.

Develops control software for test fixtures using PLC code and LabVIEW. Uses computer software to conduct tests on mechanical products and systems.

Directs in-house and external engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test control apparatus and equipment.

Directs and coordinates engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required to test, telemeter, record, and reduce test data.

Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations. Documents test protocols prior to the start of testing.

Directs and exercises control over operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.

Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.

Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.

Job Family Responsibilities:

Completes complex planning of detailed product development objectives. Completes the preparation of complex sketches, design layouts, and other specifications. Performs complex review of results to determine that products perform in the intended manner. Completes complex prototypes for testing and provides technical assistance on design feasibility. Completes standardization of complex materials, components and assemblies. Completes and maintains detailed and comprehensive records of all inventive ideas, designs, and basic improvements. Completes product issues documentation for future reference and problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs full range of standard work for the professional field. Refers complex, unusual problems to others. Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.

Education:

Bachelor's degree (BEng/BSc) in an Engineering discipline from a four-year college or university.

Knowledge and Experience:

At least six (6) years related experience. Equivalent combination of an Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline and fifteen years related experience. Shows at least 3-stars for most of the skills listed on the department skills matrix.

Direction of Others:

Provide general guidance or train support and/or professional staff.

Key Working Relationships:

Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
