Top, global medical diagnostics giant, currently on the move with many new and interesting developments, seeks a Patent Counsel. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 – 6 years patent experience in engineering-related arts including mechanical and computer software experience, with some experience in chemistry-related arts (most preferably including some biochemistry experience). 

The position primarily supports R&D and Business Development teams responsible for laboratory instrumentation, including immunoassay and nucleic acid instrument systems and laboratory automation systems. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to), transactional and freedom-to operate, managing outside counsel, as well as some in-house drafting and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications. This position also requires the ability to develop partnerships with business leaders and excellent client relationship skills.

Requirements include a  J.D. and admission to practice before USPTO and at least one State Bar. An undergraduate degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or other life-sciences discipline, or equivalent work experience is also necessary. The successful candidate also will have written 25+ Patent applications.
