FORECAST PLANNER       

Location: White Plains, NY

Salary: $70 to $85,000K plus 10% bonus

 

Job Description:

Demand Planning: Rolling 15-month forecasts by SKU. Utilization of both quantitative (shipments, consumption) and qualitative (marketing, advertising, promotion, sales administration) analysis to create forecasts. The key objective is to minimize forecast error, enabling retail orders to be shipped complete while preventing excess inventory holding costs at the Distribution Center.

Business Planning:  Be the quantitative voice for the portfolio. Create demand- driven business plans for use in financial budgets/trends. Assess risks and opportunities by brand based on latest estimates vs. financial goals.  Communicate these views to management to enable more proactive solutions to risks and the exploitation of opportunities.

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

These percentages should total 100%

  • Make insightful adjustments to the forecast after determining how variables such as shipment/consumption trends, customer promotions, marketing strategy, new launches, and promotional displays impact the forecast.

  • Create a monthly latest estimate. Highlight risks and opportunities. Present to departmental management. This will be used in the Monthly Forecast Meeting (MFM) with senior management.

  • Review forecast accuracy for both category and A-B-C rankings by SKU. Take into account results on future forecasts.

  • Lead monthly forecast “consensus” meetings with marketing and sales administration. Present recommended adjustments to the forecast based on your analytical conclusions.  Achieve a “consensus forecast” by soliciting their feedback to your suggested revisions. Present risks and opportunities to the financial plan.

  • Provide support for improvements to the forecasting process including the leveraging of the Logility system, the use of retail inventory models to predict replenishment orders and the development of a process to manage and forecast promotional display activity.

  • Analyze account specific trends (top 6 accounts).  Determine what the risks and opportunities by account are for your assigned categories.  Ascertain how specific account/SKU activity impacts your total SKU level forecast accuracy.

  • New product forecasting.

  • Prepare for monthly forecast revision meeting with manufacturing.

  • Special projects assigned by management.

  • Position interacts with the following departments:   Marketing, Customer Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, MIS, Sales Administration
  • Educational / Specialized Training Requirements:
  • Work Experience Requirements (include years of related experience required):

5 + years forecasting experience in a consumer products industry.  Strong analytical and communication skills.  Strong work ethic and attention to detail.  Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
